Utrecht screen prints by Lucas van Hapert
Lucas van Hapert is a graphic designer, known for his screen prints of iconic locations in Utrecht. Lucas first started experimenting with screen printing while studying at HKU at the Ina Boudier Bakkerlaan. This study was also the reason why he moved to Utrecht 14 years ago, the city that now inspires much of his work. "During my studies I made the narrow screen print of the Dom - with the circle behind it . These screen prints turned out to be a lot of demand, so I kept pressing them.' Curious about how his prints would do in woven form, Lucas Domtoren socks added to his collection. When he became a father, baby oks soon came with it.
Lucas likes to walk through Utrecht and get inspiration for his work. He tries not only to pay attention to the classical buildings such as the city hall and the Dom Tower, but also to, for example, TivoliVredenburg or other new buildings. For the past four years, Lucas's studio has also been in such a special Utrecht location: the old prison on Wolf Square. A unique place where many young and creative companies come together. What Lucas particularly likes about the tourist office as a point of sale of his socks and calendars is to see his products among those of other local makers. Are you going to be walking around in lucas' pair of Domtoren socks soon?
Lucas van Hapert's products are available in our webshop and in the Tourist office shop on Domplein 9.
